HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY, LACEY!

One Year Ago...

One Year Old...
"Princess Lacey"
Oh Lacey, how fast this year has gone. Look at you now! I can't believe that one year ago you were this tiny baby all snuggled against my chest. It just amazes me so much changes during the first year. You took a long time to finally start sleeping through the night. It wasn't until quite close to 12 months that you started sleeping through the night (not what I call through the night). You do still wake at anywhere between 5 and 6. I am trying to push that to 7. You are always on the go. You started crawling at 7 months and walking at 10 months. You are for sure a climber. You climb everything! You love your big brother Kyle! You intently watch his every move. It is fun to see you really playing together and entertaining each other.

Good Morning Birthday Girl!
You look beautiful in your pretty pink dress.

Everything PINK!! Your big brother Kyle is helping you blow out your candle on your cake. This was your little party at home on your actual birthday. We had our neighbors Scott, Allison, Abby and Spencer over for cake to celebrate.

After cake we went outside to play in the sprinkler!

Lacey's First Hair Cut

Before shot of the back.

She is done and ready to get down and out of my lap. You did such a great job Lacey! You did not cry at all and sat very still. Ms. Stella set aside a whole hour for you but it only took about 15 minutes because you did so well!
After shot of back. Much better! I can't believe you had to have your first hair cut before you turned a year old! You were born with so much hair!
Can't leave Kyle out of this post. This is definitely not Kyle's first hair cut. He has been sitting in the big boy chair by himself for well over a year now. I have just failed to remember to bring my camera. Kyle's hair grows so fast I take him to get his hair cut once a month. I think you are about ready to let me start cutting your hair myself.

Hey, what is with the pink clippers? Sorry Kyle.

Not so sure about the gel in the hair and really not sure of the hair sticking up like that. You looked so handsome Kyle. You for sure did not like the new spike up. You kept saying "mommy what's my hair doing? I don't like that. I don't like my hair like that." So before we could leave you asked that Ms. Stella "fix your hair back down". And she did. You are so cute!

Sand + Water = FUN

We met up with some friends at a beach day hosted by a church in the area. Kyle and Lacey had a great time!

Two moms that I did not know at all were sitting off away from all the commotion. Lacey walked half way across the sand volleyball court over to them. All while I was standing there watching her, she climbed up and sat right in this strangers lap, played with sand in front of her and after about say 5-10 minutes she decided to just get up and go play again. Very funny.

Lacey has been watching and learning from her big brother. She is pushing this toy truck through the muddy water with sounds and all.

I'm Working

During a visit last month from Nonnie and Poppy, Kyle was preparing to work to help Daddy and Poppy use the saw and sander as they prepared to prep the outside of the house for painting. Kyle is ready to go complete with matching overalls "just like poppy's", ear plugs, goggles and a mask.
Kyle decided to take a break and drive his tractors around in the little spot of dirt in our yard that we are trying to get the grass to grow. The kid really needs a dirt pile in the backyard!
This picture was actually taken of Kyle a couple of weeks later but it went with the "i'm working" title. We knew there was a sprinkler system in our yard but it didn't work. So Kyle was helping Daddy fix the sprinkler. They had to dig and that made a pretty big mud puddle. Doug was putting his hand down in the hole and Kyle you got so excited you were shaking you wanted to put your hands in too. So you did and you splashed a lot and you were soaked from head to shoes in muddy water. You had a great time! The sprinklers are fixed! After a long day, Lacey is snuggling with Poppy and about to go to sleep.

The Big Blue Bucket

We checked out a book at the library titled The Big Brown Box. It's about a boy that was given a big brown box in which he uses his imagination and plays with it several different ways. Each time his little brother tries to play with him and he doesn't want him to play so finally the mommy offers the younger sibling a smaller box so he can play too. In the book they pretend they are rocket ships. After reading it many many times one afternoon, Kyle climbed into his blue toy bucket after setting the red one beside it for Lacey to climb into and he pretended to be in a rocket ship "just like the book".

On another day, Lacey is "helping" Mommy and Kyle make some oatmeal cookies. She has her tongue sticking out like she is ready to eat!

Another Face Painting

Today when the lady asked Kyle what he wanted on his face he said "a tractor". So sorry Kyle. You were so excited about getting a tractor but I think the tiger is great!

On this day at the Arbo, Kyle is "driving" the police RV.
