Popcorn Nights

We used to get away with eating popcorn after the kids went to bed. Since Kyle now knows what it tastes like he KNOWS what we are eating without him! He will call out from his room, "mommy, whats that smell? I think it maybe smells like popcorn. Are you making popcorn?" (We like to eat it with Parmesan aka sprinkle cheese on top.) Then a few seconds later some sweet little boy will peek around the corner and quietly walk over to me. Forget that teeth have already been brushed. There is NO way this mommy can resist those sweet dimpled smiling cheeks and some very special mommy and Kyle time! These are some sweet times and Kyle thinks it is the BEST!

Sweet Sensitive Kyle

Before Kyle's nap today he caught part of the movie Air Bud. Totally following the story's plot. At the part where the kid is trying to say bye to the dog and trying to get the dog to stay put as he (the kid) goes away on a boat. Kyle (with a sad face and watery eyes trying to hold back tears)starts asking "mommy, why is that kid doing that? Why is he leaving his dog?" I explain the story about how the kid doesn't want to leave the dog but the dog isn't really his yet and the boy is trying to do the right thing. That the dog doesn't want him to go. The boy in the movie is crying and leaving on a boat when Air Bud jumps in the water after him. Kyle looks up at me and starts CRYING with BIG tears and says "mommy that makes me sad too" Oh Kyle, I love that you have such a caring and sensitive heart. I told you that God gave you that sensitive heart and that is very special. You nodded your head in agreement and gave me the biggest hug. I love you sweet sweet boy!

Makes Me Laugh

Normally in the mornings when Kyle wakes up he will let me know he is awake and wait for me to go into his room to get him up. This morning he did not wait for me or even make a sound to let me know he was awake. I woke to the feeling as if someone was staring at me and he was. I opened my eyes to see a little boy standing at my bedroom doorway as stiff and straight-faced as could be wearing his truck pj's and his John Deere cap as quiet as could be just waiting for me to wake up and open my eyes. I just smiled and chuckled and he came running with the biggest smile! Oh how I want to remember these days......I love it!

Later after breakfast....Kyle was watching Sesame Street which was playing some what was I guess bluegrass music. Kyle comes running into the kitchen and the following is his whole conversation with me. Nonstop I might add. He was talking so fast and he was so matter of fact it was cute and I sat at the table trying the best I could to document his every word. So here it goes.

Kyle- That's tractor music. I can play a violin mommy. You play the "streams" strings like that. I'm going to go bye bye.

Mommy- Where are you going to go?

Kyle- I'm going to go to the class so the lady can show me to play violin. Put my shoes on mommy. I need a little bit of help so I can go bye bye. I can play violin by myself. You take me and I stay there so the lady can teach me. You come back home. I do it all by myself. I can put that violin in my pocket. I have a big pocket. Come on mommy. I drive. Mommy put this shoe on so I can go bye bye and drive. I have to take my milk and that cereal with me.

Mommy- Where are you going?

Kyle- I got to go to music class so I can play the violin.

Kyle was wearing his truck PJs and John Deere tractor hat and sandals that he put on by himself. He then said, " I watch Curious the George then I go bye bye."

"Mommy, I Love Lacey"

Kyle is so affectionate. He is always giving hugs and kisses. He will ask me to sit down beside him and he quickly climbs in my lap. Often when I am holding Lacey he will say "Mommy it's my turn now". I cherish these moments. He tells me throughout the day "Mommy, I love you". He is so sweet. Kyle, I have always made it a point to tell you how much I love you throughout the day since you were born. I want you to hear those words.
Lacey, you too. I constantly tell you how much I love you.
Tonight on my way home from running an errand (yes all by myself), I thanked God for my sweet, precious kids. I thank God for your health and sweet presence in my life. It is an absolute joy to be your mommy and I don't want to take even a split second for granted. You both are such a blessing to me and your daddy. Thank you Lord for my little family.

OK, now when I am out with these two. People often approach me to comment on/or compliment the kids. Most often people ask if they are brother and sister?????....YES... Then they go on to say how different they look from each other. I don't know. I disagree. Yes, they have different colored hair and eyes but I look at these pics and I see so many similarities. What do you think?

Sweet Moment

Just wanted to remember a sweet moment with Kyle yesterday. I was rocking him before I put him down for his nap and he was so tired he fell asleep in my arms within minutes. I just held him tightly as I recalled the many many times I held him sleeping in my arms over the past two years. My baby boy is growing up so fast. Kyle you are my sweet sweet boy and I love you so much!
